60+ University of the Third Age Protocol Signed
Alanya Mayor ,Adem Murat Yücel, Head of Department of Gerontology and 60+ University President of Akdeniz University, Professor. Dr. İsmail Tufan, Rector of AHEP University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Durdu Öner, AHEP 60+ University of the Third Age Executive Prof. Dr. Zeynep Üstün Onur, academic staff, 60+ university of the third age students and other students attended protocol ceremony held at Alanya HEP University Purple Hall .
Prof. Dr. Zeynep Üstün Onur, AHEP 60+ University of the Third Age Executive, made the opening speech of the program before the protocol and stated the day was very exciting for them.
Prof. Dr. İsmail Tufan- Head of Department of Gerontology and 60+ University President of Akdeniz University- stated “Today we are writing a history in the sense of life-long learning. We need to give new hope to Alanya with AHEP 60+ University of the Third Age. We are here today to ensure that the people of Alanya can meet their needs, determine their talents and use them. Aging and old age designs are the structures our brain sets up for us. The reality that we all understand from old age is different from each other. Our realities about old age are different from one another, yet it seems that we have some images in common. If we all say that the elderly is a sickly, disadvantaged group, then it is necessary to reconstruct old things in our minds.”
Rector of Alanya HEP University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Durdu Öner said, "Many people from a variety of places in Turkey over the age of 60 want to come and spend the remaining time of their lives in Alanya. In this sense, you can see a profile of Turkey in Alanya. It was very important for this project to come true in a place like Alanya. The mission of our university is to provide a quality education and to lead the social issues in Alanya. In this regard, we also take part in the people-oriented projects of Alanya Municipality. I believe that this project will provide a new life for people over 60 years old in Alanya and they will be happier.”
Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel said, "Alanya is a civilized city where 300 thousand people with various religions and languages live together. We came here together to recognize the AHEP 60+ University of the Third Age. I am very pleased with these positive improvements. Recalling the saying "It’s never too late to learn", I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”
Following the speeches, a protocol was signed by Tufan, Öner and Yücel.
