Combating Violence Against Women Discussed at Alanya University within the Scope of YÖK Science Cafe
Alanya University hosted the “Life Without Violence Modular Seminar Program for Women” within the scope of the Science Cafe activities conducted under the leadership of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In the program attended by Social Worker Duygu Urlu as a speaker, the importance of increasing social awareness in the fight against violence against women and spreading a culture of nonviolent life was discussed.
The seminar, which was held at the Conference Hall of Alanya University Hamdullah Emin Pasha Campus, was organized within the scope of the Science Cafe activities implemented by the Science Communication Office of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). At the event, which aims to bring society together with scientific knowledge and strengthen the social contribution mission of universities, the importance of awareness-raising activities related to the prevention of violence against women was emphasized.
Attention was drawn to the culture of nonviolent living.
Social Worker Duygu Urlu, who was a speaker at the program, discussed the issue of combating violence against women from a social work perspective. Within the scope of the seminar, different dimensions of violence, the importance of raising awareness in preventing violence, individual and societal responsibilities, and support mechanisms were emphasized. The importance of education, awareness, and social sensitivity in building a culture of nonviolent living was highlighted.
YÖK Science Cafe Brings Knowledge Together with the Community
Science Cafe activities initiated by the Council of Higher Education aim to bring the knowledge produced at universities to different segments of society and to share scientific topics in a language that everyone can understand. In line with this understanding, Alanya University also aims to contribute to the transformation of scientific knowledge into social awareness by bringing issues that are closely related to social life to the agenda.
At the end of the seminar, which aims to create social awareness about the fight against violence against women, member of the Women's Rights Society of Alanya University, Department of Interior Architecture 3. A certificate of appreciation was presented to speaker Social Worker Duygu Urlu by 12th grade student Eylül Ekmen. The program ended after the presentation of certificates of appreciation.
